Liposuction versus Lipodissolve
Liposuction with the Body-Jet liposuction system can reduce unwanted fat and shape the body to restore youthful curves.
Liposuction is the most established and effective surgical procedure to remove excess fat. Liposuction has an over 35-year record of safety and effectiveness and has been performed by surgeons on millions of patients worldwide.
Lipodissolve is a form of mesotherapy in which chemicals are injected into the fatty tissues. These chemicals are injected with multiple needles and multiple treatments are necessary. Generally no numbing medicine is used during the injections, so the injections can be very painful. Lipodissolve and other mesotherapy treatments for fat removal are new technologies. There is very little sound scientific information supporting the use of mesotherapy for body countering.
In addition, the mixture of chemicals that is injected is not approved by the Federal Drug and Food Administration.
Indeed, some states including Oregon have declared mesotherapy fat reduction techniques as experimental in nature. In contrast liposuction, with its long history of safety and effectiveness, is an established and universally accepted surgical procedure.
With Body-Jet liposuction the torso can be sculpted and refined in men, leading to a leaner, youthful physique.
Liposuction with the Body-Jet liposuction system even provides an added margin of safety and effectiveness.
Body-Jet Liposuction versus Ultrasonic Liposuction
Dr. Connall uses Body-Jet liposuction in all procedures. There are other liposuction techniques such as ultrasonic liposuction that utilizes ultrasonic energy in the fatty layer before the fat is removed with a liposuction cannula.
We have found that Body-Jet liposuction provides excellent results and the Body-Jet liposuction has a greater margin of safety.
Since ultrasonic liposuction can increase the time of the procedure and can put the patient at risk for additional complications such as skin burns, Dr. Connall finds Body-Jet liposuction to be the best, state of the art, liposuction technique available.
Liposuction versus Laser-Assisted Liposuction
Laser-assisted liposuction techniques are similar in concept to ultrasonic liposuction techniques. That is, energy is applied to the tissues before the liposuction is performed.
The idea is that before the actual fat is removed with liposuction, a laser probe is inserted in the fatty tissues and laser energy is applied. This is a new technology with a limited track record. Though laser liposuction may have a role in the future, currently, expense and possibility of additional complications such as skin burns raise questions about its utility. Therefore, Dr. Connall prefers to use Body-Jet liposuction.
